The Beginning The Immediate Past The Past The Immediate Future The Present
Dispatches from the one person in the Delaware Valley who doesn't care how Sunday's game went:
7 February 1995 - "Well! I am currently 39,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, flying at about 602 miles per hour, sitting on a toilet. I just had my first beverage (Coca Cola) and have finished reading Stephen King's introduction to Fear Itself: The Early Works of Stephen King (it was a going-away present from Jason -- along with a pound of Reese's Pieces and a pound of black jelly beans). As it is now 1:20 a.m. London time and I am to land in a little less than 6 hours, I really need to try to get some sleep soon (today is going to be a long day). Fun fact: Februay 7th is considered the official start of the British invasion -- 31 years ago, the Beatles landed at JFK airport. Well, now it's my turn to have a British invasion -- only the other way around."
--journal entry from one decade ago, when I spent my last semester of college studying theater at Chester College in the north of England
8 February 2005 - Today sees the release of what I consider to be the first great album of 2005. It's Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs. Bird's sound is kind of hard to describe, which is usually the case with great albums, but he used to play with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, which won't really tell you anything because this sounds nothing like them. You'll just have to take my word for it. It's a great album. He plays the saw (among other things).
P.S. - You can probably expect to see excerpts from my England journal over the next few months. Not full entries, though -- I can be a right wordy bastard when I want to.
9 February 2005 - 12:25 a.m. - Sorry I'm a little late tonight. I was watching The Bridges of Madison County on Turner Classic Movies. Hey, don't laugh! Ever since Mystic River and especially Million Dollar Baby I've been meaning to see more of Clint Eastwood's films. This just happened to be the first one that came up.
10 February 2005 - Crap. Forgot to upload my strip again yesterday. I must have been blinded by the copious tears I wept after The Bridges of Madison County. I won't make that mistake again. (Instead I'll be sure to come up with all new mistakes to make.)
11 February 2005 - Oh, hey. With all my forgetting and apologizing, I forgot to mention that Wednesday was Chinese New Year. Sorry about that. Anyway, welcome to the Year of the Rooster! Someone's even made a movie about it!
