Dispatches from the Lemur of Primatological Surgery:
29 December 2003 - Quote of the Week: "Do the kids dig what we do? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" --"Go Junior, Go Senior," the lead-off track on Junior Senior's d-d-don't don't stop the beat, one of the best albums of 2003 (in my considered opinion)
30 December 2003 - As the year draws to a close, so has the life of actor Alan Bates, who has died in London at the age of 69. Bates had a tremendously varied career -- I've seen him in movies ranging from The Fixer (for which he was nominated for Best Actor in 1969) and Women in Love (in which he wrestled Oliver Reed naked, also in 1969) to Gosford Park (in which he was the main butler) and The Sum of All Fears (in which he was the main baddie). He is definitely one who will be missed.
31 December 2003 - Should old acquaintance be forgot, and buried in quicklime?
1 January 2004 - No, probably not.
2 January 2004 - Saw Tim Burton's new film, Big Fish, the other day. My recommendation: Try to catch while it's still in theaters.
P.S. - Later today I'll be posting my list of the Best Films of 2003. All I have to do is figure out what they are. Stay tuned.
P.P.S. - It's later. It's posted.
