Dispatches from the Land of Scots:
September 2003 - Quote of the Week: "From this instant, there's nothing serious in mortality: all is but toys." --Mr. Smile as the title character in Tiny Ninja Theater's Macbeth
September 2003 - Well, we've known it's been coming for about a year now -- ever since he announced that he was dying of lung cancer on Letterman -- but that doesn't make Warren Zevon's passing on Sunday any less of a shock. In fact, it's a regular bloody miracle that he lived long enough to see his last record, The Wind, released. Rest in peace, Warren. Now you can sleep.
September 2003 - And another one. This time it's notorious German documentary filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl, who has died at the age of 101. It was a thing she had to do.
September 2003 - Once Upon a Time in Mexico... a lot of people died. I haven't seen the film yet, but I'll bet this is true. And thus concludes an entire week of dispatches about death. I hope you've enjoyed it.
