Dispatches from the Discombobulatedworld:
28 July 2003 - Quote of the Week: "In this world, after everyone panics, there's always got to be someone to tip the wee out of the shoe." --Susan Sto Helit, who is a teacher of young children and therefore knows of what she speaks, in Terry Pratchett's quite nifty book Thief of Time
Speaking of nifty books, Kevin Pease's An Awful Lot of Absurd Notions will soon be converted from a potential book into a much niftier actual book, so if you've been sitting on the fence and wish to avoid paying for shipping, you have until this Friday to pre-order it. Now, go.
29 July 2003 - In case you're wondering, I wrote today's strip before I found out that there was a new Kraftwerk album coming out. (It's entitled Tour de France Soundtracks and will be in stores August 19 -- five days after my birthday, damnit.) And no, I don't think "Ebony & Ivory" will be on it.
30 July 2003 - Getting back to my friend Kevin, in addition to finishing his book, he also recently devised this nifty little quiz. The first time I tried it, I got this result:
Maybe you'll be smarter.
31 July 2003 - Lastly on the Kevin front, he is currently auctioning off an original piece of art he did based on his comic and, as I write this, the bidding stands at $58. This is criminally low, so if you enjoy Absurd Notions and wish to support the man who makes it, go now and bid -- bid like the wind!
1 August 2003 - I believe today's strip says all that needs to be said about this summer's latest unnecessary sequel. And as for the oddly-named Ben Affleck-Jennifer Lopez romance-sparking vehicle-debacle Gigli, I don't care if it looks like a horrific train wreck. You don't have to slow down and look at it. Just keep on driving. Pretend it doesn't exist. Remember that Jersey Girl is six months away and most likely will not suck.
