Dispatches from the mangy sourdough pretzel:
9 June 2003 - Quote of the Week: "We are building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude. We forge our spirits in the same tradition as our ancestors. Dr. Klahn is a magnificent leader. He has our gratitude. Let's all give Dr. Klahn a great big hand!" --disgraced guard Enormous Genitals, just prior to having his neck broken in A Fistful of Yen
Incidentally, my good friend Kevin Pease has started having Absurd Notions again, so be sure to check where his head is at after 8 1/2 months in the wilderness.
11 June 2003 - So, my power was out for two hours last night. That was fun, let me tell you. It's back on, of course, which is why you're reading this now, but when the lights go out and you're alone in a one-bedroom apartment, there isn't much to do other than wait for them to come back on.
13 June 2003 - In this space I was planning on railing against this week's dastardly duo of unnecessary sequels (Rugrats Go Wild! and Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd [which is technically a prequel, but I wasn't going to let that stop me]), but Gregory Peck -- whose Atticus Finch topped the AFI's recent list of Top Screen Heroes -- died on Wednesday night at the age of 87, so I will refrain. Instead, I leave it to you to ponder why Hollywood no longer makes 'em like they used to.
